Our regular events at the St Ives Corn Exchange

Jubado’s Stand Up Comedy

Comedy at St Ives Corn Exchange is going from strength to strength with it gaining a great reputation within the comedy world as a great venue and lovely audiences.

It all started when Judith Barrass, who runs Jubados comedy club, got in touch and asked if the Corn Exchange would be interested in a comedy night. The First Friday of the month was decided and the Riverport bar was transformed into St Ives version of the Comedy Store. The raised stage and PA system is idea and some months the event has been sold out. There is always a mixture of comedy styles provided by up and coming comedians who travel from throughout the UK and beyond. Some of the acts are more established in the comedy world but come to try out new materiel, others have only done a few gigs but after the supportive atmosphere of these special nights have gone on to win awards and gain recognition further up the comedy ladder.

Come and check out these night for yourself, you may see an act that soon will be a TV name and you can say you saw them before they were famous.

Screen st ives – the community cinema

Screen St Ives (SSI) is the community cinema for St Ives in Cambridgeshire.

We are based at the St Ives Corn Exchange and are supported by ACE, Friends of St Ives Corn Exchange, a registered charity. Our programme of twice-monthly screenings cover a wide variety of films. With the aim, of enabling access to cinema, encouraging interest in film as an art form, and fostering a strong sense of community within St Ives. SSI is a member of Cinema For All, the industry body that represents the UK’s growing community cinema network.

Films show on a five-metre screen in the spacious Charter Hall on the first and third Thursday of the month. We welcome everyone to come and share some of the world’s fantastic diversity of films – some new, some old, some little known gems, but all carefully selected for their quality and interest.

Doors open at 6:30pm for 7:30pm start, The Riverport Café Bar will be open before the show for refreshments.  Tickets cost £5 and can be bought in advance from the Corn Exchange or online at www.ticketsource.co.uk/cexevents

ACE & SCREEN ST IVES

ACE has supported SSI since it was launched by a group of film enthusiasts in 2011. We work together to improve screening equipment and facilities for the various communities in our area. ACE played an important role in rescuing the historic Corn Exchange from dereliction in 2010. The building is owned by St Ives Town Council and is run by the Corn Exchange Community Interest Company (CIC) and ACE.
