The plot of Wes Anderson’s The Phoenician Scheme centres on wealthy businessman Zsa-zsa Korda (Benicio Del Toro), who, after surviving numerous assassination attempts, appoints his daughter Lisel (Mia Threapleton), a nun, as his sole heir to his estate and a massive infrastructure project called the “Phoenician Scheme”. The film follows Korda and Lisel on a journey to convince investors to fund the ambitious but ethically questionable plan, which involves manipulating agricultural markets to cause famine, and depicts their evolving, complex father-daughter relationship amidst the chaos.
