Directed by Joachim Trier, Sentimental Value follows successful stage actress Nora (Renate Reinsve) and her sister Agnes as they reunite with their estranged father, Gustav, a once-renowned film director. Following their mother’s death, Gustav returns to the family’s ancestral home in Oslo, hoping to reclaim his former glory by directing a deeply personal comeback film. When Nora declines the lead role, Gustav casts an eager young Hollywood starlet instead. This forces the sisters to navigate their complicated family dynamics while confronting generational trauma and the uneasy tension between artistic expression and personal connection.
